William Douglas Gallagher

Dallastown- William Douglas Gallagher, 81, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2025 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Dottie E. (Smith) Gallagher.

Born January 17, 1944 in Houtzdale, he was the son of the late John G. and Nellie (Wright) Gallagher. During his career, William worked at Ceva Logistics, Trans Time Express, was the owner and operator of D & B Enterprises in Yoe, and worked for Caterpillar for 30 years. In his free time, he enjoyed drumming for the Kiltie Band of York. He was also a member of the St. Andrews Society of Baltimore.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters; Ellen Benson of Dover and Erin Meyers and husband, Dennis of Red Lion; two step-sons, Brad Barshinger and wife, Theresa of Dover and Barry Barshinger, Jr. and wife, Paula of Dallastown; one step-daughter Dorothy Godfrey and husband, John of Dallastown; twelve grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Agnus Whitehead of Philipsburg. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Elaine Kaiser; and three brothers.

Services are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York, PA 17408 is in charge of arrangements.
