Wilfred B. Ortiz

SPRINGETTSBURY TOWNSHIP- Wilfred B. Ortiz, 78, of York, died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Glenna Faye (Whitmore) Ortiz. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 2, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service. Mr. Ortiz was born in Manhattan, NY on June 29, 1931, a son of the late Frances (Lopez) and Domingo Nieves and Bartholomew Ortiz. He retired from Cole Steel in York Mr. Ortiz was a member of the former Christo Salvadore in York. He served as Chairperson on the Union Label Committee, was a former Financial Secretary Treasurer of York/Adams County Labor Council, was a retired member of United Steel Workers of America, member of AIM, and served on the York County Human Relations Committee. He was a USA Umpire, a member of AARP, United Way of York County, and Pleasureville American Legion post 779. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. Mr. Ortiz leaves a son, Jimmie Ortiz of Peoria, IL; three daughters, Angela Gonzalez of York, Lucinda Altland of Dover, and Winifred Fahs of Dover; eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and two sisters, Rayda Sylvia Rivera of York and Frances Shriver of Seattle, WA.
