YORK – Wilbur “Spike” “Bud” E. Klinedinst, Jr. 90, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at York View Nursing and Rehab. He was the loving husband of Jean S. (Clair) Klinedinst and the couple celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on June 25.
Born December 11, 1935, in York, Wilbur was a son of the late Wilbur E. Klinedinst, Sr. and Geraldine S. (Neiman) Klinedinst. After high school, Wilbur served in the U.S. Army in Korea where he was later awarded the Purple Heart. Upon returning home, Mr. Klinedinst worked for the York Dispatch as a typesetter, and later retired from Progressive Typographers, York, PA.
He was a member of the Local Union 660. Mr. Klinedinst was a lifelong member of Faith United Church of Christ in York, and a member of the Vikings Athletic Club, Shiloh American Legion, the NRA, the West Manchester Township Farmers and Sportsman Association, the 13th Ward Political Club, and Lincoln Fire Company #74. In his free time, Mr. Klinedinst enjoyed fishing, swimming, and attending York Revolution games with Mrs. Klinedinst.
In addition to his beloved wife, Mr. Klinedinst is survived by his two children, Steven Z. Klinedinst and his wife B. Jean, and Sharon L. Wiley; two grandchildren, Skyler Klinedinst, and Nathan Rhodes; Mr. Klinedinst is preceded in death by a daughter, Sheila J. Klinedinst; and a sister, Jane Shively.
A Graveside Service will be held 10:00 AM on Monday, July 20, 2026 at Greenmount Cemetery, 721 Carlisle Ave., York, PA 17404 with Pastor Kevin Shively officiating. The family requests that everyone meet at the Carlisle Ave. entrance of the cemetery by 9:45 AM to lineup before proceeding at 10:00 AM. Military Honors will be provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
