Wesley R. Burd, Sr.

YORK- Wesley R. Burd, Sr., 75, of York, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at York Hospital. He was the husband of the late Rosie M. (Shaffer) Burd. A Celebration of Life Service will be 2 :00 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York with a viewing from 1-2 p.m. Certified Celebrant, Betty Frey will be officiating at the service. Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens. Mr. Burd was born in Pond Hill, PA on June 21, 1934, a son of the late Alvin W, and Mary E. (Wolf) Burd. He retired July 1, 1996 from United Defense where he worked for 31 years. Mr. Burd was a member of the 9th Ward Social Club and served in the US Army for two years and the PA National Guard for four years. Mr. Burd leaves a son, Wesley R. Burd, Jr.; a daughter, Melanie R. Burd; a granddaughter, Angelina M. Burd, all of York; a brother, DeLeon Harry Burd of Berwick; and a stepsister, Sheila Beck of Pond Hill.
