Vonnie Gross, 80, of York, passed away Friday, October 2, 2026 at her residence in W. Manchester Township. She was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, Clarence B. Gross Jr. in 2000 and is survived by her companion, Steve Ketterman.
Born in York on October 4, 1945 to Mary (Gentzler) and Glen Gladfelter, whom she always made sure they were able to travel to many places and later she cared for until their passing. A 1945 graduate of West York High School, she was then involved in the Marching Band Boosters when her daughters attended.
Vonnie was an incredibly sweet and kind lady whose greatest treasure was her family. First, as a stay at-home mom, who made sure full course dinners were on the table every day and spent her days helping and chauffeuring her daughters wherever they needed to go. Then later, babysitting, going to events, and helping with her grandchildren. She also continued her mother’s 50-year Avon business after she passed.
As a lifelong member, she was very involved at St. Jacob’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, including serving with her husband as youth group leaders for many years. She also loved getting together with a group of high school friends and attending her Ladies of Faith group.
Vonnie is survived by her two daughters, Robin, wife of Joseph Gurreri Sr and Beth, wife of Anthony Sottasante; 5 grandchildren: Joseph Gurreri Jr. (Kristen), Christopher Gurreri (Kelly), Emily (Gurreri) Holland (Will), AJ Sottasante, and Sierra Sottasante; 10 great grandchildren, Aurianna Sottasante, Liam Holland, Maddison Gurreri, Mason Holland, Cole Gurreri, Joseph Gurreri III (Tripp), Lucas Gurreri, Hailey Holland, Jackson Gurreri and Chloe Gurreri. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Gross and a grandson, Jacob Gurreri.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00AM, Friday, October 9, 2026 at St. Jacob’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St, York New Salem. A viewing will be held from 10-11AM, Friday at the church. Burial will be held in St. Jacob’s Union Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York is honored to serve the family.
