Violet M.J. Smith

YORK – Violet M.J. (Knoke) Smith, 86, passed away Sunday, November 20, 2016 at Rest Haven – York. She was the wife of the late Harvey S. “Harv” Smith. A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with Pastor Don Alspaugh officiating. A viewing will be held from 9-10:00 AM Saturday at the Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Rose Cemetery. Born June 15, 1930 in York, a daughter of Mary (Moul) Knoke of York and the late Charles Knoke, she enjoyed crocheting blankets and plastic canvas stitching. Violet was a member of Fourth United Methodist Church. Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters, Sandra M. Hoffman of Dover and Mary L. Peters and husband Dale of York; two grandsons, Chad Hoffman and Joseph Gochenour; two great grandchildren, McKenzie and Conner Hoffman; a brother, Raymond Knoke of York; and four sisters, GloriaDean Plath and Diane Waltimyer both of York and Janet Weber and Caroleen Miller both of Dover. She was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Knoke and a sister, Henrietta Gantz.
