YORK- Violet F. (Ludokiewich) Svirskas, 99, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Inners Creek Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the loving wife of the late William P. “Bill” Svirskas to whom she was married to for 60 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 2935 Kingston Rd, East York, PA 17402, on Tuesday, September 16, 2025. Prior to the mass a viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Church. Burial will be private at Holy Savior Cemetery. Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
Violet was born in Bridgeport, CT, on October 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Awgun) Ludokiewich. After school Violet worked in the retail industry for many years and retired from DM Reads Inc. of Bridgeport, CT. During WWII she helped entertain the troops singing with the USO sponsored by the General Electric Corporation. Mrs. Svirskas has been a resident of York, PA since 1987 where she was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mrs. Svirskas is survived by her son William J. “Bill” Svirskas and daughter-in-law Madeline of York; two grandchildren; Trisha E. Bowden and her husband Brad of Harrisburg, and Stephen T. Svirskas of York; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters Anna Puskas and Alice Svirskas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Religious Education, 2935 Kingston Rd, East York, PA 17402.
