AVOCA-Thomas Williams, 95, of Packer Street, West Avoca, passed away Thursday in Kramm's Nursing Home, Watsontown. Born in Avoca on May 14, 1913, he was a son of the late Thomas R. and Marina (Dawe) Williams. He was a graduate of Avoca High School and a life member of St. John's Primitive Methodist Church, Avoca. Thomas was the Rock of Gibraltar for the family and always said a prayer for each member daily. He was an avid fisherman and tied his own flies to go fishing. Mr. Williams was formerly employed by Pennsylvania Power and Light Company as a Senior Turbine Operator for 42 years. He was also employed by Hertz Rental Car for 16 years. Not a day passed that he didn't provide for his family, never quitting work early. His wife, of 69 years, the former Helen Ann Graham, passed away on February 14, 2004. A brother, Jack Williams and sisters Elizabeth Hughes, Marina Borthwick, May Webb and Ruth Jones also preceded him in death. Surviving are a daughter, Nona J. Tansley and her husband, Keith, Turbotville; two sons, Thomas G. Williams and his wife, Valerie, Pine Grove; Lance R. Williams and his wife, Lorraine, York; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister Doris Graham, Avoca; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in St. John's Primitive Methodist Church, Main Street, Avoca, with the Reverend Rick Rock officiating. Interment will follow in Langcliffe Cemetery, Avoca. Friends may call Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 728 Main Street, Avoca, and Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
