WILLIAMSPORT - Thelma M. (Brace) Brown, 83, a lifelong resident of Williamsport, died on Friday, March 7, 2008 at the Williamsport Hospital. She was the wife of the late James O. Brown who had died in March 1998 and to who she celebrated 50 years of marriage. Thelma was born on June 14, 1924 in Williamsport and was a daughter of the late John L. and Hattie M. (Davenport) Brace. She had worked as a nurses aid with the former Lysockview. She was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WWII and served 3 years with the "WAC". She was an avid reader and she enjoyed sending cards and candy to patients and praying for them. She was also a former member of Shiloh Baptist/Door Fellowship. Thelma is survived by three sons; James O. Brown and John L. Brown, both of Williamsport and Robert D. Brown of Alexandria, VA, two daughters; Marcelene H. Brown and Leslie O. Brown, both of Williamsport, five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two sisters; Martha M. Woods of Lamont and Harriett A. Harvey of Williamsport and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Allen & Redmond Funeral Home, 331 Elmira St., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Pastor Gregory S. Johnson will officiate the services. There will be a public viewing at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.
