Sylvia A. (Pifer) Spyker

NEW OXFORD- Sylvia A. (Pifer) Spyker, 78, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at Cross Keys Village in New Oxford. She was the wife of the late Jay L. Spyker who died on October 26, 2007. The couple had been married 41 years.

A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with her brother-in-law, Tony Gonzalez officiating. A visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Shenberger Chapel Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed at HeffnerCare.com around 2 p.m. on Sylvia’s obituary page.

Born on April 27, 1947 in Stewartstown and raised in York New Salem, she was a daughter of the late Melvin and Mary (Reimold) Pifer. Sylvia was a homemaker and seamstress.

Mrs. Spyker was a member of Glenview Alliance Church in Glen Rock. She enjoyed sewing and most importantly, loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Spyker is survived by her son, Sheldon V. Spyker (Courtney Jones) of Scituate, MA; two grandsons, Evan Spyker (Courtnee) of Georgetown, TX and Ryan Spyker (Camryn) of Richardson, TX; three great grandchildren, Grayson Spyker, Aubree Spyker and Beau Spyker; and sister, Juanita Gonzalez (Tony) of Hanover.
