Sylvia M. (Sheedy) Evans

YORK - Sylvia Mary Evans of York, Pennsylvania, passed away on October 11, 2025. She was born on June 21, 1944 in Brookline, Massachusetts to Louis V Sheedy and Doris W Sheedy.

Sylvia is survived by her son Gerald Evans, "favorite and best ever" daughter-in-law Beverly and two loving grandchildren, Sean and Gregory. She was preceded into death by her brother Louis W Sheedy.

Sylvia graduated from Jeremiah E. Burke High School for Girls in 1962. She attended Hickox Secretarial School in 1963. She worked for the Boston company Elderhostel (Road Scholar since 2010) for 30 years.

A lifelong learner, she maintained an avid interest in anthropology, ornithology, and history, with a special dedication to Native American, Egyptian, and ancient history.

A proud daughter of South Boston, she was raised in the Old Colony Ave projects, later living in Oak Hill Park in Newton where she raised her son.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday November 23, 2025 at Springetts Apartments Community Building, 50 Eisenhower Drive York, PA 17402 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
