YORK HAVEN- Steven C. Strine, 63, of Newberry Township, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 12, 2026 surrounded by his family.
Born January 14, 1963, in York, Steve was the son of Carol and Sue (Fishel) Strine.
Steve followed in his grandfather Walter Fishel’s footsteps by proudly serving in the US Army as a Sergeant with his primary military occupational specialty as an Infantryman. Steve served in the 2nd Battalion, 153rd infantry regiment, Alpha Company. Based in Alaska, they were known as the Arctic Warriors and were the first line of defense against the USSR.
After being honorably discharged, Steve moved back home and worked as a mechanic and service manager for United Rentals in York and Mechanicsburg for 39 years.
Steve’s family was one of the most important things in his life and he was most proud of his children. He loved being outside hunting, fishing, and camping, which he shared with his children. Steve enjoyed sharing a meal and a beer with friends and family. He will be remembered for his smile that could light up the room, and for his stubbornness. Every year he would host his annual chicken corn soup party for family and friends. So much so, that even while going through aggressive medical treatments he insisted on hosting this past year.
Steve was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown and belonged to several local organizations including Mt. Wolf VFW post 2493, Shiloh American Legion post 791, Hawk Gunning Club, Wago Club, and Goldsboro Fireman’s Association.
Steve is lovingly remembered by his son, Jesse W. Strine; his daughter, Elizabeth L. Strine; and their mother, Lisa M. Erhart. He is also survived by six siblings, Marty (Jean) Strine, Bob (Karen) Strine, Anita (Tim) Truax, Rick (Missy) Strine, Nicole Strine, and Lisa (Matt) Lam; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and several dear friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026 at 10:30 am at Grace Lutheran Church of Roundtown, 498 Church Road York, PA. Pastor Kevin Stout will officiate. Visitation will precede the service at 9:30 am. Full military honors will be provided by York County Veterans Honor Guard at the start of the service.
