Sharon Irwin

YORK- Sharon (Tharp) Irwin, 78, passed away Friday, June 3, 2022 at her residence. She was the wife of David L. Irwin. The couple celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 11, 2022. A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York, with a visitation from 2-3 p.m. Certified Celebrant Allison Duke will be officiating at the service. Burial will be private in Mount Rose Cemetery in York. Mrs. Irwin was born in York on March 4, 1944, the daughter of the late Lloyd and E. Ruth (Johnson) Tharp. She retired from York Hospital, where she was an LPN for 32 years, then she worked briefly for Memorial Hospital, and finished her career as a school nurse at Southern York County School District. Mrs. Irwin received her nursing degree from York County Vocational/Technical School. She enjoyed playing cards, travel, breakfast with the ladies, and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Along with her husband David, Mrs. Irwin leaves three daughters, Tammy L. Miller and her husband Lon, Kristin M. Irwin, and Alicia A. Irwin; a son, Douglas A. Irwin and his wife Tanya; six grandchildren, Ryan, Shawn, Matthew, Haley, Nathan, and Hayden; two great grandchildren, Quinn and Hunter; a sister, Lola Strickler of York and a brother, Michael Tharp of Oregon.
