Ruth R. James

YORK – Ruth (Roberts) James, 86, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at her home. She was the wife of the late William D. James. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, December 1, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Olney, 5435 N. Third Street, Philadelphia, PA. A lunch reception will follow the tribute service. Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements. Born November 7, 1931 in Freeland, Luzerne County; a daughter of the late Benjamin and Verna (Keller) Roberts, she was a graduate of Temple School of Nursing where she earned her RN degree. Ruth had worked for a family practice physician for many years and later retired from the American Red Cross where she was a nurse. Mrs. James was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Olney where she was active with the Women’s Assoc. and served as a Deacon. She was also a member of Order of Eastern Star. Mrs. James is survived by a son, William D. James, Jr. and his wife Lesa of Philadelphia; three daughters, Verna May and husband Jerrold Mack of York, Rebecca E. and husband David Haines of Southampton, PA and Barbara A. and husband Robert Redding of York; eight grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Caroline King of Martinsburg, PA and Agnes DeHart of Franklin, NC.
