Ruth L. (Barnes) Reese

WILKES-BARRE-Ruth L. Reese, 94, formerly of Hanover Township, passed away Monday at Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre. Born in Wilkes-Barre on June 13, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Sterling and Thirza (Bennett) Barnes and was a graduate of Hanover High School and attended Sherwood Music School in Chicago. Ruth was a member of Christ United Presbyterian Church, Lee Park, where she was the organist for over 50 years. She was a former member of The Organist Guild of NEPA and was a volunteer with the American Red Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Reese; her son, Robert Reese; brothers Albert and Ernest Barnes. Surviving is her daughter, Elaine Vrabel and Steven, Wilkes-Barre; several nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Thursday at 10:00 A.m. at Christ United Presbyterian Church, 105 Lee Park Ave., Hanover Township. The Reverend Ann Emery will officiate. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. til 10:00 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Presbyterian Church or SPCA of Luzerne County, 524 East Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702.
