York--Russell S. “Butch” Fuhrman, 83, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on December 25, 2023 at his residence.
Born June 15, 1940 in Millers, MD (Carroll County), he was a son of the late Russell L. and Lydia E. (Rupp) Fuhrman.
He graduated from North Carroll High School, Greenmount, Maryland in 1958. In 1976 he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree from York College and later earned his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
Russell founded and owned Fuhrman Tax Service, an accounting and tax preparation business he operated for the last 45 years.
An avid historian, he also enjoyed art and loved traveling. He was past president of York Industrial Management Club and taught management and public speaking at the York YMCA.
Mr. Fuhrman is survived by his wife of 20 years, Deborah M. Fuhrman; one daughter, Lila J. Quickel (Shane); one son, Russell S. Fuhrman Jr. (Kim); two granddaughters, Valerie C. Quickel and Virginia R. Fuhrman; one great grandson; one brother, Gary R. Fuhrman (Georgeann); two sisters, Pamela A. Hartman (Harley), Rose M. Miller (Larry) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Dwight W. Fuhrman.
He is also survived by Deborah’s three children; daughter, Stacey Bet-Esfandiar (Steve); two sons, Jason M. Petry (Laura) and Michael R. Gerhart (Mandy); one granddaughter Breanne A. Forry and one grandson, Chase M. Feeser.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held 12:00PM, Saturday January 06, 2024 at Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S. Church Street, Lineboro, MD 21102. Officiating the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Rodney Gross and his nephew, the Rev. Matthew Fuhrman. Viewings will be held from 6:00 – 8:00PM, Friday, January 05, 2024 with “Words of Remembrance” at 7:00PM at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York and from 11:00AM – 12:00PM, Saturday at the church. Burial will be held in Lineboro Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Lazarus United Church of Christ, 5101 S. Church Street, Lineboro, MD, 21102 or Grane Hospice, 1010 Plymouth Rd, Suite D, York, Pa 17402.
