York--Russel F. Schaeberle, 80, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Bievenour) Schaeberle to whom he was married for 35 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00AM, Monday November 21, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be Deacon Stephen Pichler. A viewing will be held from 9:00AM-11:00AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with full military honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.
Born December 25, 1941 in York, he was a son of the late Furl M. and Madaline M. (Raffensberger) Schaeberle.
He retired from the United States Marine Corps as a Gunnery Sergeant and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the USMC, he was employed as a customer service representative with York International retiring in 1998.
An avid Washington Redskins fan, he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and attending his grandchildren’s school events. He was a graduate of Red Lion High School—Class of 1960, liked wood working, John Wayne movies, collecting Hess trucks, was a member of Saint Mary’s Church of the Immaculate Conception, formerly served as a volunteer firefighter with Laurel Fire Company-Station 37 in Windsor and liked tinkering with electronics.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Schaeberle is also survived by one son, Jeffrey F. Schaeberle and his wife, Christine; one daughter, Debbie S. Jetseck; six grandchildren, Jennifer L. Thompson (Ron), Allison R. Duke (Corey), Joseph B. Wolf, Ryan D. Schaeberle (Chuckie), Evan M. Schaeberle and Emma E. Schaeberle; four great grandchildren; one brother, Albert M. Schaeberle; one sister, Ethel R. Lau and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny H. Raffensberger.
