YORK-Ross N. Rawhouser, 68, of York, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. While his passing leaves a deep loss, those who knew Ross know he truly lived a full and happy life that was centered around the people he loved and the simple moments that meant the most.

Born on October 13, 1957, Ross was the son of Robert N. and Donna M. Rawhouser, and grew up alongside his siblings, Robert G. (Robie), Rene, and Amy. He attended York City schools, where he was a proud member of the wrestling team, graduating with the class of 1975. During those early years, he unknowingly met Pam (Schroeder) Garrety—long before life would bring them back together in a way that would change everything.

Ross spent 20+ years working for the railroad, a career he took pride in and one that reflected his strong work ethic. He retired three years ago and embraced life at a slower pace, filling his days with the things he loved most.

And Ross truly knew how to enjoy life.

He was a member of the 12th Ward and the Girard Club, where he spent many good times with friends. He loved being at the club with his buddies, out on the golf course, or hunting. He never passed up a good seafood boil. He was also an avid fan of Penn State football. One of his favorite places to be, though, was right at home sitting out on the back deck, watching the O’s, with a Miller Lite in his hand. Those were his moments—simple, easy, and exactly how he liked them.

But more than anything, Ross loved Pam.

For the last 17 years, they built a life together full of companionship, laughter, and unwavering support. They navigated life side by side, and anyone who saw them knew just how much they meant to each other.

Ross is survived by his siblings, Robert (Robie) G. and Donna J. Rawhouser, Rene and Lynn Rawhouser, and Amy Rawhouser and Rob Shoup; by Pam Garrety, the love of his life; and by her family, who became his own—Melissa and Nate Miller and their children, Levi and Paisley; Casey Garrety and her children, Liliana, Braxton and Irelynn; and Keri Garrety, her fiancé, Josh Hallman, and children, Myles, Reese, Briggs and Sawyer.

Ross will be remembered for his laid-back spirit, his loyalty, and the way he made life feel a little easier and more enjoyable just by being himself.

We’ll think of him often. May there always be a game on, a seat on the deck, and a cold Miller Lite waiting for him.
