YOE – Ronald Allen Howery, 87, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2025 at York Hospital. He was the husband of Judy L. (Bain) Howery to whom he was married for 60 years.
Born June 1, 1938 in St. Louis, MO, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy (Fletcher) Howery. Ron spent his early years in Saint Louis, MO and Schiller Park, IL. He graduated from Lyden High School in Illinois is 1956. He went on to serve our country and enlisted in the Marine Corps for four years. Mr. Howery then moved to York in 1965 where he met and married Judy L. (Bain) Howery. Together they have a daughter, Monica Riggins and a grandson, Nicholas Riggins. Ron worked in several machine shops before going to work at Caterpillar, Inc. He worked there for 25 years as a machinist, finishing his final years as a coppersmith. Outside of work, he was a member of Arlington EC Church in Red Lion and Red Lion Lodge #649 F.&A.M. In his free time, he loved to go to hunting camp in the mountains with several of his good friends. He looked for that prize buck, as well as enjoyed time with the guys. Ron was always ready to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. He had a generous heart and was very caring.
In addition to his wife, daughter, and grandson from his second marriage, he had a family from his first marriage as well: daughter Darlene Campbell and her husband Donny; grandsons, Austin, Alexander, and Aaron Campbell; and granddaughters, Ashley and Avery Campbell. Also surviving is his sister, Sharon Koehler of Menasha, WI; a brother-in-law, Stanley Bain and his wife Linda; mother-in-law, Ruth Bain; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by a daughter from his first marriage, Debra Howery; and two brothers, James Howery and his wife Diane and John Howery and his wife Shirley.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to John Scott, who is very much appreciated for helping Ron and Judy with taking care of their vehicles through the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., Red Lion, is assisting the family with arrangements.
