RED LION- Robert (Bob) Emanuel Thoman, Jr. passed away January 11, 2026, at 12:36 AM while being lovingly cared for by Penn State Milton S. Hershey MICU team.
He was born in York, Pennsylvania on May 10, 1946. He served in Vietnam with the US Marine Corps 1st Battalion, 8th Marines. He was wounded in action August of 1967 and was honorably discharged with four medals January of 1968.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Sr. and Cora (Rohrbaugh) Thoman, and by his son, Bradley.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Beverly Thoman; his children, Brent and Kristin; his grandchildren, Anders Thoman and his wife Hailey, Felicity Ford and her husband Tom, Hayden Thoman, and Corrine Sweigard. He is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Reed and Matthew Ford.
Robert carried his time as a Marine as a badge of honor. He fought through rehabilitation from his war injuries and a long hard battle with multiple myeloma cancer.
A man of few words, his few famous ones were coined by his grandchildren as "papisms" and were in use until his last days.
There will be no viewing and no formal services at this time. In lieu of flowers and that stuff, donations should be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
