Robert Steven Mackin

YORK HAVEN- Robert Steven Mackin, 80, of Newberry Township passed away on Monday, January 12, 2026 at his residence. He was the husband of Joan Ann (Gull) Mackin. The couple celebrated their 60th anniversary on July 23, 2025.

A celebration of life service will be announced at a later date. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd. in York is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Robert was born in Baltimore on July 29, 1945, the son of the late Henry Owen and Jeanne (Kiehne) Mackin. He was a freight engineer who worked for Conrail and then later retired from Norfolk Southern.

Robert enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He served in the US Navy.

Robert leaves two sons, Jonathan Mackin of East Stroudsburg and Michael Mackin of York; a daughter, Catherine Simons of Bel Air, MD; eleven grandchildren, Lincoln, Logan, Ethan, Sebastian, Jonah, Madison, Adriana, Miles, Serria, Ava, and Geena; and two great grandchildren, Nola and Kingston “Buddy”. He was preceded in death by a brother, Miles J. Mackin.
