Richard C. Brenneman, 79, of York, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026 at his residence. He was the husband of Linda S. (Dietz) Brenneman to whom he was married for almost 57 years.

Born October 8, 1946 in Starview, he was the son of the late Leroy and Helen H. (Poff) Brenneman. Mr. Brenneman was a 1964 graduate of Central York High School and went on to further his education at PennState University, graduating with the Class of 1968. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard.

For most of his career, he worked as a civil engineer with Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Resources, from which he later retired. Beyond his military service and professional life, he was an avid train enthusiast and found great joy in his involvement with the Friends of the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg. He and his beloved wife also enjoyed traveling the country in their RV, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Linda, he is survived by three children, Craig R. Brenneman and his wife Jessica of York, Kathy M. Klersy and her husband Chris of Georgetown, DE, and Ellen S. Feldman and her husband Alan of Charlestown, MD; seven grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; a sister, Donna Bennett of York; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Joyce Ritch and Connie Benfer.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is honored to serve the family.
