Rekha Kapoor

Rekha Kapoor, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026. She was born on July 3, 1952, in New Delhi, India, where she spent her early life and completed her education.

Rekha attended Victoria Higher Secondary School before continuing her studies at IP College, where she focused on Hindi, English, Economics, and History. She went on to earn a Master's degree in Sociology from MMH College.

In 1974, Rekha married Deepak Kapoor, and shortly after their wedding, they moved to the United States together and began building their life and family there. This marked the beginning of a new chapter for Rekha, as she built a life far from the home she knew in New Delhi.

Throughout her life in the United States, Rekha embraced many different roles and worked in a variety of jobs. Among them, she had her own Indian food catering business and market stand, sharing the food and traditions she loved with those around her.

But above all else, Rekha was a mother. Raising her children was the most important and meaningful role of her life. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her family and was the heart of her home. She was a loving, caring, and devoted mother whose children will forever carry the love and lessons she gave them. Rekha is survived by her daughter, Ritu, her son-in-law, Vikram, and their children, Maya, Alina, and Jai; her son, Raj, her daughter-in-law, Ritika, and their children, Riyan and Rai; her brothers, Vinod Kapoor and family, and Sardari Khanna; and her nieces, Nipon and Seema.

Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so deeply and the many lives she touched through her kindness, strength, generosity, and love. She will be profoundly missed, but her memory will live on through her children, and children, family, and all those fortunate enough to have known her.
