RED LION – Reba A. (Hannigan) Berwager, 88, passed away Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at her home. She was the wife of the late Donald R. “Jett” Berwager.


A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2335 Cramer Road, Brogue with her pastor, The Rev. Kathleen Kuehl officiating. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Wednesday at the Church. Burial will be in St. James Lutheran Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion is in charge of arrangements.


Born December 20, 1935 in York, a daughter of the late Walter B. and Annie (Shaull) Hannigan, she was a 1953 graduate of Red Lion Area High School. Mrs. Berwager then graduated from Winters Cosmetology School and operated a beauty shop out of her home. She had also worked as the Executive Secretary for Red Lion School District’s Superintendent in the early 1960’s before continuing on with her beautician career. Mrs. Berwager and her husband moved to Florida in 1979 and Reba earned her Realtor License and was an active agent until her retirement in 2000. During her free time she enjoyed bowling, an activity she enjoyed well past age 80. Reba was a lifelong member of St. James Lutheran Church and served as Organist for many years and was active with Sunday School and the Church Choir.


Mrs. Berwager is survived by three sons, Lonny R. and wife Sue Berwager of Dallastown, Steven D. and wife Patty Berwager of Longwood, FL, and Deron L. Berwager of Kissimmee, FL; two daughters, Vicki L. and husband Steven Bode of Red Lion and Kelly J. Berwager of Kissimmee; six grandchildren, Jason Berwager, Jennifer Keefer, Matthew Berwager, Becky Roberts, Donnie Letzkus, and Justin Letzkus; and 11 great grandchildren, Sadie, Camden, Tenley, Lucas, Connor, Hannah, Beau, Sophie, Emma, Harper, and Max. She was preceded in death by a grandson, John L. Harner; a great grandson, Spencer Burke; a twin sister, Ruth Neuhaus; and seven brothers, Melvin, Dale, John, Paul, Dick, Earl, and Walter Hannigan, Jr.
