EAST BERLIN – Ralph Victor Dixon, Sr., 87, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024 at his home. He was the husband of the late Helen Frances (Miller) Dixon.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 14, 2024 at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 1502 Fourth Avenue, York with Rev. Grant Ambrose officiating. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 AM on September 14th at the Church. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
Born March 30, 1937 in Baltimore, a son of the late Avery B. and Bertha (Klemkowski) Dixon; he graduated from Patterson Park High School. Mr. Dixon was a lifelong learner who attended Baltimore Junior College and was always taking or attending educational, leadership, and professional skills courses. He worked as a metals expert with Lockheed Martin, MacDermid Plating, Udylite, and then retired from MacDermid Plating. In retirement, Mr. Dixon continued as a valued consultant to numerous companies in the metals industry. Along with his late wife, he was active with York County 4-H where they were leaders in the York Co. 4-H Beef Club. Ralph also enjoyed volunteering at Pappas House. In his younger years he served as a volunteer firefighter in New Jersey. He enjoyed being outdoors gardening, fishing, hunting, and tending his farm. Mr. Dixon had also served in the US Navy Reserves on the USS Darby.
Mr. Dixon is survived by two sons, Gary L. and wife Penny Dixon of Venice, FL and Ralph V. Dixon, Jr. and his life partner Jackie Stanberry of York; two daughters, Terry Lynn Almoney of East Berlin and Elizabeth C. and husband Jon Noel of York; three grandchildren, Christopher and wife Erica Grothe, Eric Dixon, and Katie and husband Shawn Richardson; three great grandchildren, Oswin and Phineas Grothe and Woodrow Richardson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert L. and Louis H. Dixon.
