Phyllis A. “Ditty” (Wentz) Mangold, 87, of York, passed away Monday, April 27, 2026, at WellSpan York Hospital. She was the wife of William P. “Bill” Mangold to whom she was married for 66 years.

A Funeral Mass with take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at St. Rose of Lima Church, 950 W Market St, York, PA 17401, with Father Celestine Nwakwuo officiating. There will be a visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is honored to serve the family.

Born September 9, 1938, in York, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and A. Margaret (Downs) Wentz. Ditty graduated in 1956 from William Penn Senior High School. For most of her life, she was a devoted homemaker, caring for her household and raising her beloved daughter. Beyond her role as a mother, she had a passion for travel, with a special fondness for Ocean City, Maryland, where she and her husband owned a house for over 35 years.

Since her high school days, she and a close group of friends formed a card club—later known as “The Crazy Eights.” Their bond endured for decades, with the group continuing to meet regularly, most recently enjoying lunches together.

Mrs. Mangold was also a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Church and found great fulfillment in volunteering, supporting causes such as Daffodil Days and Relay for Life through her work with the American Cancer Society.

In addition to her beloved husband, Bill, she is survived by her daughter, Lea A. Witmer and her husband Mark A.; three grandchildren, Corey A. Witmer and his wife Kasie T., Eric L. Witmer and his wife Ashley N., and Brody R. Witmer and his wife Laura J.; and six great-grandchildren, William, Kellynn, Henley, Auden, Jason, and Madelyn Witmer. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Charles D. Wentz.
