Phyllis E. (Saylor) Poff

RED LION- Phyllis Poff, 94, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Weldon Poff to whom she was married for 68 years.

Born February 24, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John D. and Verbena Saylor.

She is survived by her daughter, Wendy S. Dellinger and partner Steven Hynoski of York; brother, Lynn Saylor and wife, Joan; sister W. Joyce Merkel and husband David; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Eugene and Rae Poff; along with nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a nephew, Joel Poff.

Phyllis retired from York College of PA and prior to that taught at Kennard-Dale High School. She attended Bethany Church of Red Lion. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Women, Eastern Starr, and gave much of her time to the Elizabethtown College Alumni Association.

Phyllis remembered fondly the times that she and Weldon spent traveling over the years. She loved their trips to Europe but one of her favorite trips was touring several US professional ballparks as she was an avid baseball fan. Watching professional basketball was also a favorite pastime. She loved cooking and attending cooking classes. But, most of all she loved reading. In her later years, she would go to the library every Thursday to get the new novels that had arrived and read them before going back next week for more.
