YORK- Phyllis J. DeRaleau, 92, of York, passed peacefully Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Promedica South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born August 2, 1929 in Chicopee, MA the daughter of the late Jules and Winifred Steiger. She was married to her loving husband, Richard (Dick) for 70 years until his passing in August, 2019. Phyllis and Dick were long time members of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dallastown, PA. Phyllis was a homemaker while her children were young. After moving to York in 1973, she worked for the Bon Ton Dept store in the Queensgate Shopping Center for 30 years. She loved doing crossword/jigsaw puzzles, was an avid reader and beach lover. Phyllis is survived by her daughters, Ann O’Donnell of W. Springfield, MA, Karen DeRaleau of York, PA, and by her sons Rick DeRaleau and wife Diane of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jim DeRaleau of York PA; a daughter-in-law, Cathy DeRaleau of New Castle, PA. Also surviving her are her grandchildren, Craig DeRaleau, Paul DeRaleau, Matt O’Donnell, Erin O’Donnell, Shana Shnur, David DeRaleau, Elisabeth DeRaleau, Joseph DeRaleau, Charlotte DeRaleau, Nina DeRaleau and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ellen DeRaleau, son Thomas DeRaleau, sister Lorraine Steiger and brother Phillip Steiger. The family would like to express their gratitude for the loving palliative care she received from the fine doctors, nurses and caregivers of York Hospital, 5th floor north and Promedica South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center/ Promedica Hospice who made her final journey peaceful. Thank you! Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory.
