Philip H. Dubbs

Philip H. Dubbs, 84, of York, passed away at his residence on Monday, August 3, 2026. He was the husband of the late Sandra L. (Sheffer) Dubbs to whom he was married for 52 years before her passing in 2015.

Mr. Dubbs was born on October 30, 1941 in York, a son of the late John G. and Mary S. (Groscost) Dubbs. After high school, Philip enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served aboard the USS Rockbridge as an Electronics Technician First Class (E-6). During his service, he completed specialized electronics training, earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Award. Mr. Dubbs was also a proud member of the Shiloh American Legion.

Following his military service, Philip spent more than 30 years working for Caterpillar as an electronics technician specializing in computer maintenance. His career allowed him to travel throughout the country before retiring in 2004.

Philip’s greatest source of pride, however, was the 37 years he and his wife devoted to foster care. Working with the Children's Home of York and York County Children and Youth Services, they opened their hearts and home to more than 700 children, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives.

Mr. Dubbs is survived by three sons, David A. and wife Wendi Dubbs of York, Aaron T. and wife Karly Dubbs of York, and Tyler A. and wife Marissa Dubbs of York; a daughter, Brooke A. and husband Devin Bartrom of Pittsville, MD; five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a sister, Delores Coburn of Louisiana. He is preceded in death by five brothers, Paul, Donald, Robert, Martin, and Will Dubbs; and two sisters, Sally Dewitt and Rose Ford.

Services for Mr. Dubbs are private at the convenience of the family. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, is honored to serve the family.
