Peggy S. Shearer

Dallastown—Peggy S. (Barshinger) Shearer, 63, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2025 at York Hospital. She was the wife of Timothy L. Shearer to whom she was married for 17 years.

Born June 23, 1962 in York, she was the daughter of the late Glenn E. and June L. (Fitz) Barshinger.

She was employed in the food management department at Loganville Elementary School and most recently at York Area Regional Charter School until her retirement.

Trips to the beach, Jamaica and visiting her son in Denver, Co., were just a few of the places she enjoyed traveling. She also enjoyed cheering for the Baltimore Ravens and doting on her dog. However, what she cherished most of all was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shearer is also survived by one son, Justin Sotdorus of Denver, CO; three step children, Chelsea Watson of Hanover, Cody Shearer of Red Lion and Cassidy Mohar of Red Lion; six grandchildren, Karter, Kyah, Jackson, Emerson, Lincoln and Taytum; two brothers, Larry Barshinger and his wife, Glenda of Dallastown and Mark Barshinger and his wife, Karen of Dallastown and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Donna Hollerbush.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 7:00PM, Thursday, October 02, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Paul Bentzel of New Fairview Church in York. A visitation will be held from 5:00 – 7:00PM, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
