York – Pearl L. (Dubbs) Platts, 85, passed away at Autumn House East on May 25, 2023. She was the wife of the late Stewart L. Platts. They shared 64 years of marriage.
Pearl was born in York, PA on June 22, 1937 to the late Earl E. and Doretta (Stambaugh) Dubbs. She attended West York High School.
Pearl retired as a long-distance operator for Verizon after 33 years. She worked at the York Fair for 15 years selling jewelry and crystals. Her loving, devoted ways led her to caring for pets and older adults in their homes.
At the age of 4, Pearl learned to roller skate at White Rose Skating Rink. Her mother would curl her hair in long locks and have her wear a little skating dress. People would come in just to see the pretty little girl skate. She looked like a young Elizabeth Taylor, people said.
She was a member of Reliance Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, York Organ Club, and the Dutch Club.
She enjoyed music and dancing and she had a lovely voice. She also enjoyed her place at the beach.
She was well known for the great deeds she did for other people, especially those in need. There was no doubt that she loved her kids, Debbie, Kim, and Steve.
Pearl is survived by her daughters, Debra (Rudisill) Beaverson (Bob), Kimberly Platts-Dulak, son Mark Steven Platts (Diane), Grandchildren, Kelly Dulak, Angelica Dulak, Christopher Platts, Sean Platts, Stephan Platts, Elaina Henry, Great-Grand Children, Nona, Liam, and Lydia, and brother, Donald Dubbs. Preceded in death by a sister Janet (Dubbs) Brooks.
Pearl was blessed with many friends, family, and former co-workers she enjoyed and loved throughout her life. She made new friends everywhere she went.
She wanted to tell all of you how much she loved and appreciated you in her life. She also wanted to thank her caregivers and visitors at the Autumn House and Pleasant Acres.
The service will be held on Fri., June 2 at Heffner Funeral Home, 1551 Kenneth Road, York, PA 17408. Viewing at 12 (noon) with service following at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Mt. Rose Cemetery following the service. Please wear bright colors.
