THOMASVILLE - Paul F. Tice, or better known as Fritz, 77, passed away peacefully Friday, February 6, 2026, at his home in Thomasville. He was the loving husband of Alice J. (Smith) Tice to whom he was married for 54 years.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday February 13, 2026, at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd, York, with Rev. Bonnie Ort officiating. A viewing will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Rose Cemetery at 1502 Mt. Rose Ave, York.
Born October 10, 1948, in York, he was the son of the late Paul B. and Marian L. (Rothermel) Tice. Fritz was a 1966 graduate of West York High School, where he was an active member of the WY Marching Band playing his bass trombone. His love for music led him to attend college all the way in McPherson, Kansas where he received his degree in business administration and economics, and a minor in music. He met the love of his life, Miss Alice Jane in the college band. He said when he first saw her the hair on his arms raised up and he knew she was special.
After college, he enlisted for 6 years in the PA Army National Guard-103rd Armored Calvary, where he assisted with the 1972 evacuations of Hurricane Agnes.
He volunteered and played his trombone for many years at the York College Jazz Lab Band, Unforgettable Big Band, The Gettysburg Big Band, and others
Along with his love of music, was his enjoyment of trains. One of his frequent visits was to the Horseshoe Curve where he took more pictures and videos than his family can count. He enjoyed collecting and putting together HO model trains. He even served 30 years as treasurer and was a life member of the Mid-East Region of the National Model Railroad Association, and belonged to several railroad historical organizations.
He enjoyed taking his family camping to the mountains where watching trains and trout fishing were always involved.
Fritz was known by so many through his family accounting firm, Tice Associates, P.C. He worked as a public accountant for so many wonderful clients whom he considered to be like family. He started working there part time in the 1960s, when his dad said “No one is gonna hire you for the summer. Why don't you work for me until you find a better job?” After College in the 70s he started working full-time and would joke that he never found that better job after 57 years of service. He was a member of the National Society of Accountants, a Charter Member of the South-Central Chapter of PSPA, and past chairman of the Joint Central/South-Central Chapter Education Committee.
Along with his wife, Alice, he leaves behind his sister Barbara J. Kindig; his beloved children, son Michael P. Tice, son James F. Tice, daughter Melinda J. Lapp and her husband, daughter Joanna L. Trainor and her husband; his four grandchildren whom he delighted in, Cody M. Tice, Ryan J. Lapp, Clara J. Lapp, and John (Paul) Trainor; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Kathy L. Fetter.
