Pamela Kay Markel, 64, passed away at home on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 after a long hard-fought battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was also a breast cancer survivor.
Services and burial will be private at the convenience of the family with Pastor Terry Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion, is honored to serve the family.
Born in York on December 12, 1961, she was a daughter of the late Elmer W. and Dena C. (Osburn) Markel, Sr. She was a 1979 graduate of Red Lion Area Senior High School. She was employed with Jamesway from the time she was in high school until they closed in 1995. Pam enjoyed anything crafts especially floral arranging, owning her own floral business, Pam’s Floral Fantasies, in the downstairs of her home for many years.
Pam is survived by her daughter, Samantha Markel and boyfriend Martin Pomraning of Airville; and her brother-in-law, Bob Thompson of York. She was preceded in death by her sister, Pat Markel Thompson; and a brother Elmer W. Markel Jr.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Penny Reich for everything she did to help take care of Pam.
