Osborne Wright

ALLENTOWN-Osborne "Ozzie" Wright, 87, of Allentown, formerly of Edwardsville, died Thursday, April 12, 2007 in St. Luke's Hospital, Bethlehem. He was born in Sunflower, Mississippi on December 19, 1919, a son of the late Osborne and Annie (Dean) Wright. He was a graduate of G.A.R. High School and an Army Air Force Veteran of World War II. Mr. Wright was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a Trustee emeritus. He was also a member of the N.A.A.C. P. He was formerly employed as a bus operator in New York City for 25 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and three brothers. Surviving is his wife of 66 years, the former Urcella Johnson; son, Osborne Wright Jr., Mamaroneck, NY; foster son, Arnold O'Neal, Whiteplains, NY; daughter Shirley Smalling, Jamaica, New York; 8 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; brother, Allen Wright, Austin, TX; numerous nieces and nephews. Home Going Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 105 Hill Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Michael Brewster will officiate. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the church. Kniffen O'Malley Funeral Home, Inc., 465 South Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, is in charge of arrangements.
