YORK – N. Richard “Dick” Gallatin, Jr., 93, passed away Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at his residence. He was the husband of Deborah L. (D’Onofrio) Gallatin to whom he was married for 16 years.

Born February 12, 1932 in York, he was a son of the late Norman Richard Sr. and Pauline Tena-Etta (Young) Gallatin. After attending William Penn Senior High School, Dick joined the United States Air Force, serving in the Korean War as a medic. For most of his working life, he was a truck driver for over 45 years. He also owned and managed several rental properties. Outside of his hard work, he was a member of Dallastown American Legion Post 605 and Glen Rock American Legion Post 403. Dick spent his free time volunteering as an ambulance driver and assisting patients at York Hospital. When he wasn’t helping the community, he could be found completing crossword puzzles, reading the York newspaper and different magazines, or sitting on his porch talking with his neighbors. His family remembers him as a “foodie.” He was always eating, feeding others, or sitting at different restaurants.

In addition to his wife, Deborah, he is survived by seven children, Norman Richard “Rick” Gallatin III and his wife Robin of Plant City, FL, John P Gallatin, David E. Gallatin, both of Tampa, FL, Barbara A. Cannon of Las Vegas, NV, Laura J. Winemiller of York, L. Marie Martens and her husband Bill of Bradenton, FL, and Penny M. (Gallatin) Handy of York; 18 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and a couple great great-grandchildren; as well as a sister, Judith A. Gallatin of Kent, OH. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda J. Brillhart; a grandson, Justin Bush; and two sisters, N. Diane Schmidt and Joyce Aumiller.
