Nancy H. (Hequembourg) Snyder, 84, of Manchester, MD, passed away on Friday, August 29, 2025, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late Edward W. Snyder.
Nancy was born on June 23, 1941, in North Tonawanda, New York. After graduating as class Salutatorian from Burnt Hills–Ballston Lake High School, she earned her Bachelor’s degree from Wells College in Aurora, NY, and went on to complete a Master’s degree in French Literature at Cornell University, where she met her future husband, Edward. She returned to her high school alma mater to teach French before starting her family.
Nancy was deeply involved in her children’s lives and became a stalwart presence at Charvale Pool in Charlton, NY, serving as swim team mom and leader for more than a decade. Once her children were grown, she continued her career at the family business, Hequembourg Insurance (later Brown & Brown) in Schenectady, NY, until her retirement.
Throughout her adult life, Nancy was an active member of East Glenville Community Church. She faithfully led Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and countless Bible studies, leaving a lasting impact on her church community.
Nancy loved her family dearly. She made holidays joyful and memorable, and she never missed a chance to cheer on her beloved Yankees or the Duke Blue Devils.
Above all, she will be remembered for her faith, her devotion to family, and her joyful, giving spirit.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by four sons: Timothy C. and wife Susan Snyder of Manchester, MD; Theodore F. and wife Kelyn Snyder of Niskayuna, NY; Daniel E. and wife Amy Snyder of Jacksonville, FL; and Stephen W. Snyder of California. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Gunnar, Aidan, Behren and wife Lauren, Mackenzie, Gabrielle, Leona, and twins Bianca and Mariana; as well as her brother, Charles L. Hequembourg of South Carolina; and nieces and nephews, Nicole, Noelle, Frederick, Ninette, Tracey, Dennis, and Stephanie.
A Celebration of Life Tribute Service will be held privately with burial in Pine Grove Cemetery in Charlton, NY. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York is in charge of arrangements.
