SPRING GROVE- Mildred K. (Ruppert) Messersmith, 84, passed away Sunday morning at Manor Care North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of 40 years to the late Harry J. Messersmith, who passed away in 1984. A funeral service will be at 10:00 am Wednesday at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Rd., York with her former pastor, Rev. Marshall Gante officiating. Viewings will be Tuesday from 7 to 9:oo pm and Wednesday 9 to 10:00 am at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Jacob's Union Cemetery, York New Salem. Mildred was born on November 2, 1923 in Dover Twp., she was one of 18 children born to the late Curtis S. and Daisy K. (Myers) Ruppert. She was employed with Pfaltzgraff for 26 years before retiring in 1983. Mildred was a faithful member of St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 20 years and belonged to the Golden Age of St. Jacob's Church. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the York New Salem Fire Co. and the Windy Hill Senior Center. Mildred had a large garden at her home that she enjoyed tending to. She loved to cook and bake. Mildred was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Surviving are her two sons, Barry L. Messersmith and his wife Betty J. and Richard L. Messersmith and his wife Cindy A. all of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Barry Messersmith, Jr. and his wife Belinda, Kelly Mummert and her husband Bradley, Kristin and Alison Messersmith; and 8 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death are nine brothers and 8 sisters. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jacob's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 99 E. George St., York New Salem, PA 17371.
