Michael E. Rice

YORK – Michael E. Rice, 78, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2026 at Spring Creek Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Harrisburg.

Born December 6, 1947, in York, he was a son of the late Howard William Rice and Nellie Mae (Gorsuch) Rice. He attended York Suburban High School and proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps, serving 2 tours of active duty during the Vietnam War and earning numerous medals for recognition of his bravery and dedication.

Mr. Rice spent more than 20 years working as a machine operator at Allis-Chalmers-Voith before retiring. In addition to his military service and career, he was a member of AMVETS. He will be remembered by his family for his sharp sense of style, his love of dancing, playing softball, and his fondness for his favorite car, a black, then yellow, 1963 Triumph TR3.

He is survived by his siblings, Gerald “Gerry” L. Rice and his wife Barbara of Seven Valleys and Janet L. Lehr and her husband Duane of York; as well as several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by three siblings, Bob, Howard, Jr., and Suzanne Rice, and nephew, Wyvon Witman Rice.

A Graveside Service at Mt. Rose Cemetery in York will be announced at a later date. Full Military Honors will be presented by York County Veterans Honor Guard. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., York, is honored to serve the family.
