Michael E. Freet, Sr.

YORK – Michael E. Freet, Sr., 76, passed away on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Linda J. (Godfrey) Freet.

Born May 26, 1949 in York, Mike was the son of the late John F. and Marie (Weaver) Freet. Mike was a 1967 graduate of William Penn High School. He worked for 28 years as a welder for Schmidt and Ault Paper Company, followed by 10 years at York Casket Company. Mike is a proud Marine, and bravely served his country during the Vietnam War. During his service Mike was a member of the Fort McHenry Honor Guard in Baltimore and the Silent Drill Team. Mike was an active member of Pathway Community Church. He was proud of his faith and lead his family by example. He was a member of the Marine Corps League and West York Fire Department. A lifetime member of the West York VFW and Viking Club. He also loved bowling with his friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, he is survived by his three children, Michael Freet, Jr. and his wife Lori Ann, Chris Freet and his wife Stacey, and Lorrie Rodriguez and her husband Deny; six grandchildren, Zachary, Nathan, Ryan, Emma, Ana, and Ethan; three great grandchildren, Jackson, Ellieana, and Gracelyn.

A Celebration of Mike’s life will be held 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at Pathway Community Church, 1731 West Philadelphia Street, York, PA 17404 with Pastor Jim Dinger officiating. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM. Burial will be private, at Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Military Honors provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard. All are welcome to attend a luncheon following the burial service, provided at Pathway Community Church.
