Michael E. Merica

MANCHESTER – Michael E. Merica, 60, passed away Monday, August 22, 2011 at M.S. Hershey Medical Center. He was the husband of the late Elaine L. (Lentz) Merica. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, September 1, 2011 at Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 1551 Kenneth Road, York with the Rev. Richard E. Jorgensen, Jr. officiating. A visitation will be held from 12-1:00 PM Thursday at the Funeral Chapel. Private niche placement of Michael’s cremated remains will be in Mount Rose Cemetery. Born May 2, 1951 in York a son of the late David and Mary (Pearson) Merica, he was a 1969 graduate of Central York High School. Mr. Merica had worked 20 years at Wilton Armetale and most recently for Miltex. He enjoyed painting, woodcarving, and woodworking. He was a US Army veteran of the Vietnam War. Mr. Merica is survived by a son, Jason L. and wife Melissa Merica of York; two grandsons, Dayne and Chay Merica; a brother, Gary A. Merica of Red Lion; and two nephews, Tyler and Evan Merica.
