Melvin R. Stiffler, 93, passed away Monday, December 04, 2023 at his residence in York Township. He was the husband of Esther L. (Rohrbaugh) Stiffler to whom he was married for 26 years.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, December 11, 2023 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be the Rev. Dr. Bayse Reedy. A viewing will be held from 1:00 – 2:00PM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Dallastown Union Cemetery with military honors provided the York County Veterans Honor Guard. Mr. Stiffler’s Tribute Service will be webcast live on his obituary page at www.HeffnerCare.com
Born January 31, 1930 in White Hall, MD, he was the son of the late Mark R. and Ruth M. (Krebs) Stiffler. He graduated High School in Sparks, MD and later went on to graduate from Western Maryland College in 1962.
He was employed as a Human Resource Coordinator for several years with Black & Decker and several manufacturers and facilities, before starting a career in real estate. Following his retirement from real estate sales, he began driving school bus.
A United States Air Force Veteran during the Korean War, he was also a member of Stillmeadow Church of the Nazarene. Melvin was an H.H. Franklin Car enthusiast and a member of the Franklin Car Club as well as the Gettysburg Region Antique Car Club. He loved to sing and for many years was a part of the York Men’s Chorus and a Barber Shop Quartet.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Stiffler is also survived by one son, Scott Stiffler of Westminster, MD; one daughter, Susan Lohmeyer of Manchester, MD; one step daughter, Jewel Myers of White Hall, MD; four grandchildren, Brett, Amy, Samuel and Lindsey; three step grandchildren, Jarrod, Jalein and Jolanda; three step great grandchildren, Corbin, Kara and Conrad; two brothers, Walter Stiffler and Carol Stiffler and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald, Robert and Leonard and three sisters, Gertrude, Dorothy and Marie.
