Mathew Paine Zimmerman

Cincinnati – Matt Zimmerman, 56, passed away April 26, 2025 surrounded by his loved ones. He was the loving husband of Karen Piwonski-Zimmerman (1968-2021) for 30 years and of Stephanie Janssen to whom he was married to in early 2024.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Olewiler and Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 35 Gotham Place in Red Lion with Certified Celebrant Debe Snyder officiating. Visitations will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Friday, and from 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM on Saturday at the Funeral Home. Please join us in celebrating Matt by wearing a soccer kit, Dallastown sports apparel, or preppy outfits that make you think of him. Born July 12, 1968 in Wilmington, Delaware, he was the son of Harry M. and Cecila (Schisley) Zimmerman. After graduating college, Mr. Zimmerman taught middle school earth science for 31 years, 25 of those years at his alma mater, Dallastown Area School District. Mr. Zimmerman was a dedicated and inspiring soccer coach for 20 years, coaching players at Red Lion and Dallastown schools along with Metro, FC York, and Ballyhoo soccer clubs. In his free time Matt loved being with his family and friends, spending time with his dogs George and Bijou, watching Premier League soccer, traveling, and being a very supportive and involved parent to his daughter and her friends.

In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Zimmerman is survived by a daughter, Hannah M. Zimmerman-Federle and her husband Jackson, a brother Zachary A. Zimmerman, a sister Meegan L. Zimmerman, and his extra daughter Jordan A. Gebhart.
