DOVER - Mary E. (Keeny) Cretu, 76, passed away on Sunday, January 18, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She is the loving wife of Nicholas V. Cretu, with whom she shared 52 years of marriage.

Born July 17, 1949 in York, Mrs. Cretu was a daughter of the late Nevin Lamar and Gladys L. (Raver) Keeny. After high school, Mrs. Cretu devoted the majority of her career to Glatfelter Insurance, where she was known for her dedication and care for those around her. She had a deep love for travel and fulfilled a lifelong dream with a trip to Ireland. More than anything, her children were her life, and her greatest joy came from loving, supporting, and spending time with them. She also cherished every moment shared with her family and dear friends. Mrs. Cretu possessed an exceptionally kind and generous heart and had a rare gift of making every person she encountered feel genuinely loved and valued. She never met a stranger and was always ready to offer a helping hand. She also held a special place in her heart for her dogs and granddogs and treasured the many years spent with them.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Cretu leaves behind a daughter, Staci Cretu and her husband Frank Ciccocioppo; a son, Brandon Cretu; two sisters, Bonnie Keeny-Strayer and her husband Barry, and Nancy Keeny; a brother, Dennis Keeny and his wife Alice; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Cretu is preceded in death by a brother, Dale Keeny.
