Mary Ann (Ebaugh) Sheffer

Listen to Obituary

Mary Ann (Ebaugh) Sheffer, born to parents Ruth Estella (Becker) Ebaugh and John Millard Ebaugh on June 20th, 1942, in York, PA, passed away on January 18th, 2026, as gentle snowfall fell from the sky. Those sparkling flurries that stuck to our eyelashes melted away with tears of sadness, joy, and remembrance.

She married Thomas Todd Sheffer on September 20th, 1969, with whom she had three children: Marie, Todd, and Ann. Her caring and compassionate nature led her to study at Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing and later practice nursing as an RN at York Hospital. Mary Ann gave her heart and health to everyone around her, family and friends alike. She was a devoted member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ where her angelic voice could regularly be heard on Sundays as she sung her favorite hymns. The family will host a gathering in the future, open to all who knew Mary Ann. In the meantime, send a note of remembrance to Tom, her husband, at 300 South Harlan Street, York, PA 17402, or send an email to steesllc@gmail.com so we are sure to notify you of our celebration of Mary Ann’s life.

She is survived by her husband, Tom; her children, Todd Sheffer and Ann Kennedy; her son-in-law, Kevin Kennedy; her niece, Jodi Runge; her grand-nephews, Jonathan and Matthew Runge; and her grandchildren, Laurel Kennedy, Reed Kennedy, and Eli Sheffer.

Our protector until memories left her,

She raised us all and gave us her heart.

Now even though she must go,

In us she left of it at least a part.
