Marjorie Y. Johnson of St. Anne’s Retirement Community, Columbia, PA, formerly of York and St. Mary’s, PA; passed away peacefully at age 96 on March 31, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Warren M. Johnson for 64 years. Marjorie was born in Mt. Pleasant, PA on October 21, 1929 and was raised in Crafton, PA.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Marge lived a life full of love, faith and kindness. She spent much of her career providing administrative support in school systems, from the elementary to college levels. She especially loved her years working at Penn State York. Marjorie enjoyed entertaining, cooking, gardening, her beloved dogs, her deep faith and caring for her family. She was a very devoted Catholic and member of St. Joseph Church in York. She also belonged to the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served as treasurer of the York chapter.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father, Marie and Eugene Young, her sister, Kathy McVicker; brothers, Jim and Richard Young; her beloved husband, Warren; and grandson Ward. She is survived by her children, Bob (Kathy), Jo (Dave), Tom (Linda), Mitchell (Joan); grandchildren Paul, Susanne and Vicki; and great-grandchildren Anna and Everett.
Visitation will be held at St. Joseph Church, 2935 Kingston Road, York on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 10-11:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at the church with Rev. Andrew St. Denis as celebrant. Private burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery near St. Mary’s PA. Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., is honored to serve the family.
Special gratitude to the nurses and staff at St. Anne’s Retirement Community who showed Marjorie great care and affection during her long illness. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to St Anne’s Retirement Community, c/o “Day of Stay” Program, 3952 Columbia Avenue, West Hempfield Twp., PA 17512.
