Margaret J. Smeltzer

Margaret J. (Daley) Smeltzer, of Windsor, Pa; 87, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at her residence in Lower Windsor Township. She was the wife of Lincoln S. Smeltzer to whom she was married for 66 years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday June 24, 2025 at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 1943 Craley Rd, Windsor. The Mass will be webcast live and can be viewed by visiting Mrs. Smeltzer’s obituary at HeffnerCare.com. Officiating the Mass will be Bishop Gabriel Tetherow. A Viewing will be held from 6:00 – 8:00PM, Monday June 23, 2025 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens with Military Honors Provided by the York County Veterans Honor Guard.

Born May 23, 1938 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Luke and Florence (Hemenway) Daley. She served in the United State Air Force and was a member of the Women’s Air Force Basketball team.

She was a loving and dedicated Army spouse to her family throughout her husband’s military career. Following his discharge, she became a sales manager with K-Mart before moving on to Sears Roebuck and Company, where she worked for 15 years until her retirement in 2000.

A member of St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Windsor, she also was a member of the White Rose Classic Chevy Club, enjoyed bowling and ceramics.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Smeltzer is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandra L. Sample; two grandchildren, Mara L. Smeltzer and her fiancée, Rosalind Sipple and Evelyn G. Smeltzer; one sister, Linda L. Elker and her husband, Jeffrey and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, James E. “Jim” Smeltzer.
