YORK - Marcelino "Pineapple" Pala, Jr., 76, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at home with his children by his side. He was the loving husband of Nancy (Hinkel) Pala to whom he was married for 44 years.
A Celebration of Marcelino's life will be held 6:30 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026 at Heffner Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc. 1551 Kenneth Road, in York with Certified Celebrant Amy Favorito officiating. Prior to the service there will be a viewing from 5:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Burial will be private at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
Born November 19, 1949 in Honolulu, Hawaii, Marcelino was the son of the late Marcelino Pala, Sr. and Eunice J. Wilson. Marcelino moved to York during his senior year and graduated from Dallastown High School class of 1967. Following his graduation, he went and served our country as a Marine during Vietnam. After his time of service, he worked for Borg Warner, DBO, Frigid Coil East, York International, and retiring from Johnson Controls as a material handler. Marcelino was a member of the Shiloh American Legion, Post 0791. In his free time, he enjoyed watching TV, college basketball particularly Duke, and Penn State Football. Above all else he enjoyed time spent with his family.
In addition to his wife, Marcelino is survived by his two children, Latricia Miller and her husband James of York, and Benjamin Pala and his partner Laura Nepple of Northern Cambria, PA; six grandchildren, Victoria Sheridan and her husband Nate, Katlyn McAnnaney and her partner Chris Moore, Alexis Gaffney and her husband Devin, Serenity Pala, Teagan Pala, and Taylee Pala; two great grandchildren, Grace Sheridan, and Spenser Sheridan; three sisters, Judith Hobbs of York, and Martha Corn of Waianae, Hawaii, and Josephine Valentino of Waianae, Hawaii. Marcelino is preceded in death by two great grandchildren, Dalton Sheridan, and Baby Gaffney; and three siblings, Patrick Chong, Jr., Mercy Sepulveda, and Baby Eunice.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to Sweet Grace Ministries, 77 Horst Ave, Chambersburg, PA 17201 or to the Northeastern Honor Bus Project, 300 High Street, Manchester, PA 17345.
