Louise J. Stearn

RED LION—Louise J. (Mortorff) Stearn, 93, passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at her residence in Lower Swatara Township. She was the wife of the late William J. Stearn, Sr.

A Celebration of Life Service will be 10AM, Monday October 10, 2022 at Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. Officiating the service will be her pastor, the Rev. Britt Strohecker. A viewing will be held from 9-10AM, Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.

Born October 10, 1928 in York, she was a daughter of the late Laymon G. and Elnora I. (Nickle) Mortorff.

She was employed as a seamstress for many years with Doe Spun Inc., and York Dress until her retirement. Following her retirement, she also enjoyed working at Walmart.

Louise enjoyed gardening, making floral arrangements, gambling at Hollywood Casino, playing cards and puzzles. She liked playing bingo and took country line dancing lessons for a few years. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Red Lion for many years and later became a member of New Beginnings Church in Middletown.

Mrs. Stearn is survived by 3 children, Jack D. Stearn of Middletown, Sandra L. Stearn-O’Neill and husband, Francis and William J. Stearn, Jr of Dallastown; 7 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 2 brothers, Laymon H. Mortorff and George Mortorff and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by 7 brothers and sisters.
