Louise A. Jenkins

YORK – Louise (Akehurst) Jenkins, 87, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at Misericordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late Wilbur L. Jenkins. A celebration of life tribute service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 5, 2017 at Life Tributes by Olewiler & Heffner Funeral Chapel & Crematory, Inc., 35 Gotham Place, Red Lion. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 PM Saturday at the Funeral Home. Mrs. Jenkins was born on March 3, 1930 in Baltimore, MD to the late Edgar and Louise (Mason) Akehurst. As a young adult, Louise worked at Hutzler’s Department Store in Maryland. She had also been a substitute teacher at Baltimore Highlands Elementary School. Mrs. Jenkins was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Bon-Air Country Club. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family, traveling, caring for her home and gardens, and celebrating all of the holidays. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by a son, James W. Jenkins, II and wife Kerri of Glen Allen, VA; two daughters, Wendy Gnidziejko Hill and husband Jim Hill and Cynthia J. Warner both of Airville; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.
