Lois Ann (Dudeck) Sprow

Lois Ann Sprow, our beautiful mother, reached out and took the hand of our Lord on September 12, 2026 at the home of her daughter in York, Pa. Lois was born at home on July 2nd, 1931 in Nanticoke, Pa, the third of three children born to Anna Dudeck, daughter of a Polish immigrant and Rudolph Dudeck, a German immigrant.

She grew up surrounded by a wealth of loving relatives and friends. She eventually married and had seven children. Lois was never tired of attending family christenings, birthdays, graduations, and weddings. She enjoyed sending cards to everyone and was often teased about her well organized and very up-to-date address book. Her handwriting was exquisite.

She worked in the sewing factories until her early seventies. Lois loved her job at Rifkins and did not want to retire. Somehow, she found the time to sew outfits for her five girls. We never complained because Mom had such good taste and style.

Her interests included crocheting, embroidery, taking pictures (she wore out a lot of cameras), and collecting plates from all the states. Helping at her church was a big part of her life, and she enjoyed bowling. She even had a custom red bowling ball made for all the tournaments she competed in.

As her children got older and moved away, she would hop on a bus to go visit. She loved sightseeing with us and the grandchildren. Her ultimate trip was to Germany and Poland when she was 80 years old. She liked her beer and polka music, so Oktoberfest was a big hit.

Lois was predeceased by her parents, Anna and Rudolph Dudeck, brother Dr. Carl Dudeck, infant sister Dorothy Dudeck, grandson Matthew Rondina, and sons-in-law, Benjamin Rondina and Robert Conrad.

She is survived by her children Gail Karpinski (Frank Schumacher), Glenda Conrad, Gary Sprow (Doreen), Giselle Rondina, Georgia Moody (Kurt), Gretchen Culp (Scott), Gregg Sprow (Susan), sister-in-law Frances Dudeck, and many nephews and nieces.

She will lovingly be remembered by her grandchildren Chanelle, Cherica, Tara, Lindsay, David, Jodi, Jessica, Erica, Mark, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Jacob, Ryan, Leah, Lauren, Rebecca, and Jennifer; and by great grandchildren, Sean, Drew N., Natalie, Chelsea, Sydney, Owen, Lucas, Scarlett, Drew S., Blake, Nathan, Sarah, Mahlin, Sloane, Gwen, Madelyn, Drew M., Dexter, Alex, Juliet, and Evelyn.

We never heard a curse word. Never saw a tear. She was a quiet, patient, strong, hardworking, humble, thoughtful woman. Yes, she was remarkable. Sweet Dreams Mom.

Our family wishes to thank the entire community at Country Meadows of Leader Heights for the kind and loving support shown to our mother the three years she resided there. We also would like to thank Lifesong Hospice for the exceptional care given as her precious life was coming to an end.

A church service for Lois will be held at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 231 State Street in Nanticoke, PA on October 7, 2026. A visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
